SCHOOLS WORK

AVYFC have been working in schools delivering education since the 1980’s. Most recently we have been offering local schools various educational and session work to enhance the student experience. The sessions and activities that we deliver include individual and group mentoring, enrichment programs such as photography, music, music technology, and sports. We also offer support for religious education, including our explore resource, and citizenship. Please contact us if you would like to find out more about the services we offer.

Explore is the latest resource from YFC's schools department - a 12-week programme of study to be used with students aged 11 to 14 within their RE lessons. It has been produced collaboratively with Youth Alpha to give young people a chance to explore some of the big questions of life within the classroom: questions such as does God exist? What does faith mean? Why is there suffering? 

It’s easy-to-use lesson plans make this an ideal resource for teachers, youth workers and church workers looking to engage with their local school. It has been created by experienced teaching professionals to fit seamlessly in line with the national framework for teaching RE at Key Stage 3 and the non-statutory curriculum for Religious and Moral Education.

Explore gives students the opportunity to investigate the Christian faith in a way that is fresh, engaging and relevant to their everyday lives. Each lesson unpacks key areas of Christian beliefs and practices using an exciting array of activities: games, drama, art, discussion and interactive illustrations. It also including a DVD that incorporates vox pops, testimonies and short films. The twelve lesson plans can be used consecutively (ending with an assessed assignment) or individually as stand-alone lessons.
